DB: how did your interest in graphic design evolve and eventually come to be your profession? JW: when I was twelve, I download cracked versions of all kinds of graphic, 3D software, and flash. I had already taught myself how to code websites and I became interested in how to make my websites look great beyond what code could accomplish. I did freelance web work for individuals and small businesses in high school for a few years. I went to the rhode island school of design.
I was only accustomed to designing with the computer so this came as a major shock to me. JW: my mom was an entrepreneur and having a strong female influence from a young age had a big impact on me. JW: when stefan and I started working together, there was not a team like we have now. I prefer working on a team versus solo, I think a collaborative effort between creatives with different kinds of skills yields more interesting results then one person could do alone.

Walsh was born in New York  and raised in nearby Ridgefield, Connecticut. In , Walsh met Stefan Sagmeister. He looked through her portfolio and offered her a job at his design studio, Sagmeister Inc. Blending handcraft, photography and painting with digital design,   Walsh works primarily on branding, typography, website design and art installations.
When we spoke with Timothy for his digital interview, the project had already debuted. In many ways, it has clearly been good, but was doing it good for my design career? Jessica : 40 Days of Dating made me rethink my career and the way I work. Timothy : I recently heard a great quote by Lena Dunham. What was the most important lesson you learned about relationships, romantic or not, from the project? Jessica : The most important lesson I learned was to relax, be myself, and not worry so much about dating or finding the right person.
During the experiment, I was stressed out about relationships, working too much, and not living a healthy lifestyle. The experiment and therapy helped me realize that I needed to take care of myself. When the experiment ended, I was in the best state of mind: I was relaxed, balanced, and carefree. Coincidentally, as soon as I stopped looking for the right person, I found the love of my life a few months later—we just got married two weeks ago!

Jessica Walsh had a meteoric rise to become one of the most prominent graphic designers in world. He decided to hire her. Tim Goodman is a designer based in New York. Finding themselves single at the same time, these two friends decided to embark on an experiment — date each other for 40 days. With one a hopeless romantic and one a commitment-phobe, 40 Days of Dating attracted over 10 million unique visitors, with the world waiting with baited-breath over what would happen between these two friends.

Jessica Walsh’s view on success is simple: “Success to me is doing what I love, continuing to learn and grow, and having fun doing it,” she says. They’ve just finished writing a book, and have sold the rights to the film. Now, Walsh is continuing her journey of designing and art directing work that defies genres and gains accolades from the finicky design set.
